A report in JOBURG in South Africa when Guru Jitendra was in the country in August 2006
8 August - 15 August, 2006
Hi there,
If you have not yet had a meal at one of the many Adega restaurants around Joburg, then make a plan to get there soon! I was at Adega in Peter Place on Saturday night and had an unbelievably good time - the food was out of this world, the live entertainment was superb - and I am happy to report that I sampled both oysters and mussels for the first time! (My education was further extended in the drinks department when I was introduced to Jager Bombs - Jagermeister and Red Bull - now THAT was an experience!)

Don't forget that Decorex is happening this weekend - Gauteng's premier decor event launches this Wednesday, 9th of August at Gallagher Estate and runs until Sunday, 13th of August. Decorex brings together the most captivating collection of exhibitors, design icons and earthly delights under a nature inspired theme, 'Nature Influences Living Spaces'. Don't miss it!
Also don't miss the Virgin Mobile Outdoor Ice Rink at Nelson Mandela Square, which is open until Sunday, 13th of August. Go during the day with the kids (over the age of 7) or skate the night away. The rink will be open every single day between 10am and 10pm. Entrance is R20.
Music lovers will not want to miss the Standard Bank Joy Of Jazz Joburg International Festival, which takes place in venues throughout Joburg from Thursday, 24th to Saturday, 26th of August. As the premier jazz event for the city of Joburg, the festival has become an ideal family outing that encompasses music in every form but with a clear and strong emphasis on jazz.
Fans of Indian cuisine (and those who wish to explore yoga) should get to Emperors Palace for the Indian Food Festival, which runs from Friday, 11th to Saturday, 19th of August. Two prominent Indian chefs from Mumbai, Chef Shashish and Chef Painoli, will cook sumptuous, traditional Indian dinners at the famous five star Aurelia's Restaurant at the D'oreale Grande hotel at Emperors Palace. Professor Jitendra B. Ramotra, who has been teaching yoga and its benefits for over 18 years, will hold three workshops per day for three days.
